Limited edition of 1,000 copies on 180-gram vinyl. Goldfrapp’s 2001 album Felt Mountain, it was a welcome leap into the unknown for Alison and Will. Set in the North Yorkshire town of Northallerton, where the pair spent two weeks writing the album, it was without a doubt the first album where they chose to innovate and break free from the genres in which they had previously set their sights. It was also their first attempt to work in a band.
180-g black vinyl LP pressing. Felt Mountain is the debut album by Goldfrapp, and the first album Alison and Will released under their collaboration of the same name. \"Goldfrapp presents the likes of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory is a bit like Michael Caine being put in front of an Isaac Hayes drum machine, but there's a wider field of possibility,\" Will told Q magazine in 2001.
On the eve of the release of Felt Mountain, Goldfrapp embarked on a mini-tour of southern and mid-north England, including dates around increasingly unlikely venues. The pair befriended many of the people opening for them, such as the Geraldines and The Waterboys. This was a new way to approach a live performance. Instead of playing in front of their usual crowd of indie kids, they would play complete sets to a very large crowd. This way, they were able to focus on what they were doing and from this experience came the idea that Helical Scaffolds debut album, Black Cherry, should have a live act beyond its songs. 7211a4ac4a
